Politics of Discretion - 1999
3 charred wooden boxes, each with a key hole to peek through. Through each key hole a different setup is seen, each with a back lit image, my portrait, hands and feet, manipulated with thread, needles, and wires. In front of each image is a chair and remnants of the tools of manipulation, representing a place of contemplation as well as a place of torture.
This piece was made in honor of the free thinking writers, artists, and journalists who have systematically been silenced throughout Iranian history.
